Lt. Bob Koziak, spokesman for the Town of Mamaroneck Police Department, said the oil spill was not serious. It did not require closing Boston Post Road (Route 1), he said.

A town DPW crew responded to spread sand on the oil to contain it, Koziak said.

The spill occurred shortly before noon, slowly down traffic along Route 1.
