Man Charged With Drunk Driving On Sprain Had Son, 4, In Car, Police Say

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- A 31-year-old Croton man has been charged by State Police from the Hawthorne barracks for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, a felony.

While on patrol on Saturday, Aug. 29, troopers observed a vehicle traveling on the Sprain Brook Parkway in excess of 80 miles per hour, state police said. 

The offending vehicle was stopped and police interviewed the driver who identified himself as Jason VanEtten. Following an investigation conducted by police, VanEtten was found to be intoxicated, police said.

VanEtten was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated under Leandra’s Law for driving while intoxicated with his 4-year-old son in the vehicle.

VanEtten provided a positive breath sample that revealed a Blood Alcohol Content of .09 percent and was issued traffic tickets ordering him to appear in the Town of Greenburgh Court on Sept. 11.
