Four Displaced in Rye Basement Fire

RYE, N.Y. -- A family of four was displaced early Thursday by a fire in the basement of 19 Franklin Ave., according to the Rye Fire Department.

No one was injured in the fire, which was reported at 6:57 a.m. and brought under control in an hour and a half, fire officials said. Smoke detectors alerted the family to the fire. The department said the cause is still under investigation.

The Rye department was assisted by the Mamaroneck Fire Assist and Search Team, the Larchmont Fire Department and Harrison Fire Department.
