$80K Worth Of Marijuana Seized On I-95 In Rye

RYE, N.Y. – Three Massachusetts men were arrested Sunday night when New York State Police seized 14 pounds of marijuana, a loaded handgun, $80,000 in cash and oxycodone pills during a traffic stop on I-95 in Rye, state police said.

Around 6:28 p.m. Trooper Serge Diogene of Troop T, based in New Rochelle, stopped a car for speeding in a posted work zone on the highway, police said. While questioning the driver, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car, the report said.

Upon searching, he found 14 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value over $80,000.

Jerome O. Isaac, 29, and Alexis A. Garcia, 28, both of Springfield, Mass; and Deshawn Walton, 26, of Indian Orchard, Mass., all were charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, first-degree criminal possession of marijuana and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies.

All three men were arraigned in Rye Town Court and sent to the Westchester County jail without bail. They were all due in court on Tuesday.
