Raymond 'Ray' Kallio, 93, Former Rye Brook Resident

RYE BROOK, N.Y. – Raymond Jacob Kallio Sr., formerly of Rye Brook, died Tuesday, May 24 at Colonial Health & Rehab Center in Plainfield, Conn. He was 93.

Born Sept. 24, 1922, in New Haven, Conn., he was the fourth child of the late Jacob and Lempi Kallio, who had emigrated from Finland. Soon after his birth, his family moved to Byram, Conn. He graduated from Greenwich High School and went to work at Electrolux in Old Greenwich, Conn. for more than 40 years.

A family man who loved to socialize, he opened the household to all his children's friends, who remember him fondly.

He is survived by son, John, and his companion, Lynn Atkinson; son and daughter-in-law Raymond Jr. and Hae Auh; daughter and son-in-law Jeanette and Randy Briggs; daughter-in-law Chris; grandsons Daniel Briggs and Lukas Kallio; and sister, Anne Long.

He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret; son, James (Jim); and sisters, Celia Lovequist and Elma Anderson.

A memorial will be conducted Sunday, June 12 at Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home in Jewett City, Conn.
