Peter R. Jones, 57, Of Rye

RYE, N.Y. -- Peter Robert Jones, of Rye, died Thursday, Oct. 15 from cancer. He was 57.

Jones was born in the Bronx, N.Y., in 1958 and grew up in Old Bridge and Northvale, N.J. He later lived in White Plains, where he met his future wife, Diane Gasser, before moving to Rye in 1998.

Jones shared his love of travel with his wife. Together, they traveled across Europe, South Africa, Australia and the United States. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants and enjoyed cycling and golfing throughout his life.

Jones was a 1976 graduate of St. Joseph's Regional High School and Rutgers University Class of '80, where he attained a bachelor of science degree in economics. Later he received his MBA in taxation as part of the NYU Stern School of Business Class of '90.

His career was in finance and he spent 19 years with The Interpublic Group of Companies Inc., as a member of the board of directors with Audmars Piguet, and he most recently worked for the Internal Revenue Service.

He was diagnosed while young with diabetes and volunteered as member of the Leadership Council Board from 2009-10.

He  is survived by his wife of 22 years, Diane Gasser; mother: Rosemary Jones; brothers: Paul (Kathy), Richard, Steven, Thomas and Michael Jones; sisters: Mary (Phil) Barbera and Ann (James) Protus; mother-in-law: Audrey Gasser; brothers-in-law: Michael (Barbara) Gasser, Louis (Esther) Gasser; sister-in-law: Janet Ciamaricone and nine nieces, four nephews and tw great-nieces. 

He was predeceased by his father Paul Jones; father-in-law Louis Gasser; and brother-in-law Joe Ciamaricone.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Graham Funeral Home, 1036 Boston Post Road, Rye. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m.Thursday at the Church of the Resurrection, 910 Boston Post Road, Rye
