Nancy Scott Stampleman, 76, Of Rye, Prolific Community Volunteer

RYE, N.Y. -- Nancy Scott Stampleman, 76, of Rye, died Wednesday, Feb. 25.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, she was a resident of Rye for 38 years, graduating from Wellesley College in 1959.

A volunteer at the Rye Historical Society from 1984 to 2012, she served as registrar for most of that period and was on the board of trustees for six years.

Stampleman established the archives for Rye Community Synagogue in 2007, serving as archivist until 2012.

She served on the city of Rye Landmarks Committee from 1996 to 2009, mainly as secretary of the committee.

Stampleman was a district leader for the Rye Democratic Party for 25 years.

She was also a member of the Crossings Book Group.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur; her stepmother, Hazel Scott; two sons, David and Joseph; one daughter-in-law, Brett Gardner; and two grandchildren.

Her parents, George and Thelma Scott, and her sister, Jane Scott Lande, are deceased.

Visiting and shiva will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Rye Community Synagogue, 200 Forest Ave.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at the Rye Community Synagogue.
