Harrington was born at United Hospital in Port Chester, N.Y. on March 31, 1947 to Michael and Nora Harrington.
He grew up in Larchmont, and finally settled in Rye and Amagansett, N.Y. with his wife and children in 1985.
Harrington graduated from Mamaroneck High School, where he started as a hard-nosed linebacker on the legendary undefeated 1964 football team.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, Jerry enjoyed an outstanding career on Wall Street as an equity sales trader, making his mark at Tucker Anthony, Drexel Burnham, and SG Cowen.
Besides his family, Harrington's passion was golf. He was always a single-digit handicap and a popular longtime member of Westchester Country Club in Rye, where he won the men's senior club championship in 2005.
At 65, a lifetime of practice finally earned him golf's ultimate accomplishment of a hole in one. In his retirement, his favorite time on the course was spent with his granddaughter Olivia.
Harrington helped many young men start their careers on Wall Street, and mentored all he could with his invaluable wisdom.
Harrington is survived by his family: wife Helen, son Colin, daughter Leigh, son-in-law Mike, and his precious granddaughter Olivia.
He also is survived by his four brothers Brian, Robert, John, and Kevin and his two sisters, Mary Lyden and Noreen Keating. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Michael and Dennis.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Church of the Resurrection, 910 Boston Post Road in Rye, N.Y. The wake will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6 at Graham Funeral Home, 1036 Boston Post Road in Rye.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation to a charity supporting Westchester Country Club caddies.
