Elizabeth 'Candy' Isdale, 70, Successful Rye Travel Agent

RYE, N.Y. -- Elizabeth Candler "Candy" Isdale, 70, of Narragansett, R.I. died peacefully at her home July 3, 2015, surrounded by her family.

She was the beloved wife of George M. Isdale, Jr. (Dooie). Candy was born in Evanston, Ill., April 23, 1945. She was the daughter of the late Charles F. Hovey and Anita C. Hovey (Hinckley).  

Isdale attended The Chestnut Hill School, The Winsor School and graduated from Beaver Country Day School in 1963, where she was the proud founder and president of the Daffodil Club, 1963. She graduated from Mount Vernon College 1965.

Isdale and her husband moved to Rye in 1968 where they raised their children. She was an accomplished businesswoman as a travel agent and independent charter broker for more than 35 years.

With the help of close friends she purchased UNameIt Travel and partnered with another friend in Custom Charter Yachts, Ltd. She was a past president of the American Yacht Charter Association 2003-07. 

Isdale is survived by her husband, two children, Elizabeth C. Isdale, Greig M. Isdale and his wife Debora G. Isdale; three grandsons, Douglas, George and Grant; and brother Charles F. Hovey Jr. Her brother Benjamin C. Hovey predeceased her.  

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 17 at St. Peter’s by the Sea in Narragansett, R.I. with a reception following at the family home in Narragansett.

There will be a private family burial that will take place at a later date.
