Eileen Jean Sullivan, 95, Of Rye, Teacher, Resurrection Grammar School

RYE, N.Y. - Eileen Jean Sullivan of Rye died Friday, April 25. She was 95.

Sullivan was born Jan. 11, 1919, in Rockaway Beach, to Charles and Elizabeth Kelly Walsh. She went to Good Counsel Academy and attended the Catholic Boarding School. She graduated from Good Counsel College, White Plains, with the class of 1938. Graduating at 19 years old, she became a legal secretary at a Manhattan law firm. She was a substitute teacher at Resurrection Grammar School in Rye, and was a volunteer at the Good Counsel Alumnae Association. She continued volunteering for REAL, an organization supporting the rights of special needs children, and also at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital.

Sullivan is survived by her children, Kathleen, Betsy, Neil and Clare Sullivan; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Sullivan, Jr.; and sons, Brian Edward Sullivan and William A. Sullivan, III.

Calling hours are Sunday, May 4, from 2 to 5 p.m. at James F. Lulves Funeral Home, 9 Ave., A, Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, May 5 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson. Inurnment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
