Cook was born on May 28, 1932, to Muriel (Garland) and James S. Rahman. She attended the Village of Rye Elementary School, graduated from Rye High School, and obtained her secretarial certificate at Katherine Gibbs in NYC.
Cook worked at Martin Insurance Co. in Rye until starting her family in 1952. In 1964, she and her husband started a successful small business, Westchester-Wilbert Vault Co., which became the largest company of its type in Westchester County when it was sold in 1999.
Cook volunteered her time to Port Chester-Rye Volunteer Ambulance Corp where she served for many years as an EMT alongside her husband, who served as a driver. While serving many individuals in their community, they were both first responders to the Stouffer's Hotel fire in White Plains.
Cook is survived by her husband, Ken; children, Michelle Richardson of Harpswell, Maine, Lynn Cross of Landrum, S.C., and Jimmy Cook of Antrim, N.H.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandsons.
