RYE, N.Y. Albert Golanec Jr., a retired Rye Police Department officer and resident of Mohegan Lake, died Thursday, Aug. 23. He was 68.
The son of Albert and Stella Golanec, he was born March 30, 1944, in Port Chester. He served in the Army from 1965 to 1971. Golanec married Patricia vonAchen in Rye on March 22, 1969. He joined the Rye Police Department in 1971 and retired in 1993.
Golanec is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Jeff (Debbie) Golanec, Chad Golanec, Theresa Moretti, George Romano and Thomas (Melissa) Romano; a sister, Helen Morus; and six grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Yorktown Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance.
