WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- White Plains resident Jaerue Williams was convicted of manslaughter and criminal possession of a Weapon on Thursday, Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore said.
Williams was found guilty of shooting Wilfredo Rivera in the chest at close range on Aug. 11, 2012. The defendant was already in custody for parole violations, according to the statement.
“Collaborative multi-jurisdictional detective work throughout Westchester County linked this defendant to the most recent felonies that this defendant committed," DiFiore said in a statement. "With today’s conviction, this defendant will finally be held accountable for his persistent and violent felony career.”
Sentencing will take place on Feb. 18, 2014. Williams faces a maximum of 25 years in state prison, the statement said.
