Monday, June 4

YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program: 6:30 p.m. The YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program's goals include reducing body weight by 7 percent and increasing physical activity to 150 minutes a week. Rye YMCA, 21 Locust Ave.

Board of Architectural Review meeting: 7 p.m. Included on the agenda is a proposed renovation by the Miriam Osborn Home. Rye City Hall, 1051 Boston Post Road.

Blind Brook Board of Education meeting: 8 p.m. The Board of Education will dole out awards to the district's K-5 students and 9-12 students. Blind Brook Middle School/High School, 840 King St., Rye Brook.

Tuesday, June 5

Planning Commission meeting:  7 p.m. Among the items on the agenda is a wetland permit from Kudor Island Colony located on Hen Island to build a maintenance shed. City Hall, 1051 Boston Post Road.

Wednesday, June 6

Beat the Sugar Blues Workshop: 6:30 p.m. Are you constantly craving sweets and want to understand why? Do you want to gain control without deprivation? If so, join Jennifer Hirsch and Nicole Dimartino, health coaches trained by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, for a free lecture as they discuss how to permanently change your relationship with sugar. Rye YMCA, 21 Locust Ave., Rye.

Thursday, June 7

Thursday Afternoon Book Group: 1:15 p.m. Join this afternoon book group for friendly and pithy conversation. Open to one and all. Copies of the book will be available at the first floor circulation desk. Read it before the meeting. Rye Free Reading Room, 1061 Boston Post Road.

Friday, June 8

Relay for Life: 7 p.m. Relay for Life is an overnight event in which teams from businesses, schools and neighborhoods come together in support of the fight against cancer. Teams take turns walking around a track overnight and participate in activities, entertainment and ceremonies to honor and remember those who have fought cancer. Rye Town Park.
