RYE, N.Y. — From municipal meetings to community gatherings, here's what's happening in Rye and Rye Brook this week.

Monday, May 21

Grand opening of Rye Library's second floor: 3 p.m. Join in the celebration as the Rye Free Reading Room officially opens its new second floor teen center and quiet space. Rye Free Reading Room, 1061 Boston Post Road, Rye.

Tuesday, May 22

Rye Brook Board of Trustees: 7:30 p.m. The Village of Rye Brook's Board of Trustees will meet. Among the items to be discussed is the modification of the budget to repair a municipal truck. Rye Brook Village Hall, 938 King St., Rye Brook.

Robert the Guitar Guy Music and Movement Program: 1:30 p.m. Babies and preschoolers will enjoy the movement and music of this high-energy performer.  Guitar, puppets, rhythm instruments and lots of marching and dancing all play a part in these fun programs that will set kids giggling. Rye Free Reading Room, 1061 Boston Post Road, Rye.

Wednesday, May 23

City Council: 8 p.m. Rye's City Council will meet to present the candidates to replace Council member Suzanna Keith when she departs for Texas in June. City Hall, 1051 Boston Post Road, Rye.

Thursday, May 24

Tango by the Beach: 7 p.m. Rye residents are invited to learn the tango on the Rye Town Park Beach. The lessons are being conducted by Rye resident and tango teacher Jill Doornick. Rye Town Park, Forest and Oakland Beach Avenue, Rye.

Friday, May 24

Fun Club: Happy Birthday Martha: 3 p.m. Everyone’s favorite talking dog is turning 20. Listen to “Martha Speaks” and some of Martha’s own favorite dog stories. Make a doggy craft and enjoy a special treat. Rye Free Reading Room, 1061 Boston Post Road, Rye.

May Fun Club Day at the Rye YMCA: 9 a.m. Come to the Rye YMCA for a day jam-packed with fun! For $60, or $75 for nonmembers, children will be treated to a day of fun while schools are out. Parents are reminded not to forget to pack a bathing suit. Rye YMCA, 21 Locust Ave., Rye.
