RYE, N.Y. – The family of a Rye Playland worker killed on a ride in 2007 is expected to receive a combined $700,000 from Westchester County and the amusement park, according to a News12 report on Monday.
In the settlement, Westchester will give the family of Gabriela Garin $275,000. The company that owns the ride she died on at Rye Playland will give the Garin family $425,000.
Garin was killed after being thrown from the “Mind Scrambler” at Playland in 2007, News12 reported. She reportedly left behind a 2-year-old daughter.
The Westchester County Board of Legislators still has to approve the settlement, according to News12.
