All state offices, including the Department of Motor Vehicles and all courts, are closed for the day. Post offices, schools and most town offices will remain open.

Connecticut is one of eight states in the nation, including New York, that separately recognizes Lincoln's birthday.

Presidents Day, which will be celebrated nationwide on Monday, Feb. 17, is actually known as Washington's Birthday in Connecticut.
