At the Brooklyn-esque Domestic Dry Goods Company (14C Rye Ridge Plaza, Rye Brook, 914-481-4822) where everything is made in the U.S., Owner Erin Hinchey is offering a sampling of food products.

The festive atmosphere continues at Wish (3 Purdy Ave., Rye, 914-967-2910) where complimentary wine and cheese will be served amidst the gift items.

Wine and cheese will also be offered at family-owned Landsberg Jewelers(132 S. Ridge St., Rye Brook, 914-510-8920) where everything will be 15 percent off. The store is also offering discounts on Heather B. Moore jewelry as part of a "spend more, get Moore" promotion.

At Arcade Books (15 Purchase St, Rye, 914- 967-0966), all New York Times bestselling hardcovers are 20 percent off and all hardcover books recently released to paperback are 40 percent off.

Weezie D. (22 Purchase St, Rye, 914-930-7355), known for its charitable gift giving and holiday sales, will be celebrating the day with a "Buy One, Get One 50 Percent Off" promotion.

Behind the deals and goodies, however, is a rallying cry for shoppers to recognize their neighbor-owners and the importance of shopping "small."

"Shop small is important to a thriving community and helps create jobs for a fruitful economy," said Louisa McTurner, owner of Weezie D, which also has a location in Bronxville.

Adds Domestic Dry Goods Hinchey: “People expect shopping to be a unique and rewarding experience but if all the unique and rewarding local boutiques go away there will be nothing left but cookie cutter mall stores. I personally shop local for about 80 percent of my buying and always have.”
