RYE, N.Y. -- Rye YMCA's Chief Operating Officer Ed Philipp has been recognized by the Business Council of Westchester as one of the winners of its 2012 Rising Stars "40 under 40" Award. The council awards the honor every year to 40 outstanding individuals who "exemplify leadership, foresight and vision for the future of Westchester County."
A release sent by the Rye YMCA said that the award is designed to acknowledge individuals who surpass expectations and set new standards for success.
Ed is very deserving of this honor," Rye YMCA Executive Director Gregg Howells said. "He has been a strong leader and innovator at the Rye Y for many years and we are all very proud he is receiving this award."
Philipp began his career in Rockland County serving as the County YMCA's health enhancement director. He also served in leadership roles at the New Rochelle YMCA and the Town of Poughkeepsie before coming to Rye in 2003.
Since coming over Philipp has served as project manager of the Rye YMCA's "Activitate America" and "Livestrong" programs in addition to providing day-to-day leadership. Philipp will be honored along with the 39 other award winners on June 7 at Mastercard Worldwide in Purchase.
