Rye Town Park to Host Relay For Life in June

RYE, N.Y. -- The American Cancer Society in White Plains has announced that after two months of searching they have officially set a date and location to premier Relay For Life in Rye.

The Rye Town Park Commission, which consists of Rye Town Supervisor Joe Carvin, Port Chester Mayor Dennis Pilla, Rye Brook Mayor Joan Feinstien, Rye Mayor Doug French, Rye Council member Joe Sack and the town of Rye's Benedict Salanitro, passed a motion at their Wednesday meeting approving June 8 and 9 at Rye Town Park as the dates and location of the event.

"We're so excited to bring Relay For Life to Rye," said American Cancer Society spokesperson Megan McGrady in a statement. "(We) can't wait to see the community come together to fight back against this disease that takes too much from too many."

Relay for Life has already been established in 12 other locations in Westchester County. The organization has also announced the activation of the event's website.

Rye's resident cancer activists Sole Ryeders, a community-based charitable organization committed to providing and supporting local cancer-related programs, was instrumental to making the event happen.

For more information regarding Relay for Life and to get involved please contact McGrady at 914-397-8803 or email her at this address . You can also visit the Relay for Life website at www.relayforlife.org .
