Rye Students Take Photos Over Long Weekend

RYE, N.Y. -- Rye High School seniors Reid Fultz and John Brigaudit spent their day off taking pictures for their photography class.

"It's been nice just walking around town and taking pictures -- just enjoying the warm weather before fall kicks in,” said Fultz, 17.

Fultz and Brigaudit have Thursday and Friday off from school this week in observance of the Rosh Hashanah holiday, but they didn't mind doing a little photography homework.

"We're just working on our portfolios this weekend," said Brigaudit, 17.

The two seniors were using analog cameras, using black and white film, which they will learn to develop themselves in a dark room.

"Our teacher, Mr. Sanders, is awesome," said Fultz. "He gives you a lot of freedom while still teaching you."

Both students have experience with digital photography, but neither has worked with film before, so it's a new experience not being able to take as many pictures.

"By taking pictures, I see more details in everything around me," said Brigaudit.
