Rye Opens Town Hall, Library As Cooling Centers

RYE, N.Y. -- Due to the extreme heat, Rye has opened City Hall and the library as cooling centers for residents to seek relief.

City Hall is located at 1051 Boston Post Road and will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The Rye Free Reading Room, located at 1061 Boston Post Road, is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Westchester County Department of Health has issued a heat advisory. Residents are advised to avoid strenuous activity and to drink plenty of non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated fluid. If any resident or business loses power they should contact Con Edison directly at 1-800-75-CONED.
