RYE, N.Y. -- Annabel Monaghan came to pick up her son, Quinn, after his first full week of kindergarten at Midland School.
"He was a little overwhelmed at first," said Monaghan. "He's a little shy."
This week, Quinn was introduced to the "cupcake system." Each student has a paper cupcake on the wall and whenever they do something good, they receive a sprinkle. Once a student reaches 10 sprinkles they get a prize.
Quinn already has four. No one has made it to 10 yet or seen inside the prize box, so the prizes are still a mystery.
Monaghan said Quinn loves his new teacher and is making new friends.
She has two older children and is already familiar with the teachers and staff of Midland School.
"It's a great school," said Monaghan. "We're very happy with it."
