Rye High School Holds Back-to-School Night

RYE, N.Y. -- Louise and George Bryant arrived early at Rye High School for Back-to-School Night Monday and were seated in the auditorium long before parents began streaming in, some having to perch themselves on the stairs."We always come together," said George Bryant. "But tonight we'll have to split up."

The Bryants now have two children at the high school. Their son Hutch is a sophomore and their daughter Brakely a freshman. The two divided up their time to meet with each of their children's teachers.Over the years the Bryants have been to many back-to-school nights as their children have progressed through the school system. As college applications loom on the horizon, they feel the nights have only become more necessary."You get a lot more information than in the past because parents aren't at the school as often," said Louise Bryant.

She said she "gently" reminds her teenagers to think about college, though it's something the Bryants have been thinking about for a long time."These days, you pretty much have to start thinking about college from childbirth," said George Bryant.
