RYE, N.Y. – The Rye Arts Center’s annual exhibition of members and students will feature a range of mediums, including digital art, traditional painting and drawing, sculpture, recycled art and more.
“We’re very proud of this show because it really does show off what we do here at the arts center,” said Adam Levi, the center's arts school director. The show’s opening reception will be from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the Rye Arts Center, 51 Milton Road. The exhibition continues through Jan. 26.
The annual exhibition is part of the student learning process of showcasing, Levi said.
“Some of them have a fear of being judged and critiqued, but it’s important to exhibit their work and see how they have grown,” he added.
This year, the show will combine students and members and is open to all ages, as opposed to having separate shows for different age levels. All work is for sale and 20 percent of each piece sold will go toward the center.
“That’s part of the whole gallery experience they get to participate in,” Levi said. “Some of them don’t get the chance to exhibit in galleries. We’re lucky we have such a serious space and it’s exciting for all of us.”
Pieces will be exhibited in the Rye Arts Center gallery, performing arts room and main office gallery. Those wishing to submit must be a current Rye Arts Center members or must have been a Rye Arts Center student within the past year. The entry fee is $15; it is free for those who currently taking a class at the center, are younger than 12 or are an Artist Level member of the center.
Here are more particulars outlined by the center on submitting artwork for the show:
