RYE, N.Y. Matt Maloney watched the Rye Garnets varsity football team run practice plays on the AstroTurf in anticipation of the upcoming showdown with longstanding rivals the Harrison Huskies.
"Everyone at school is getting really pumped," said Matt, 16, a junior at Rye High School. "We're all wearing garnet and black this week."
Matt has attended every Garnet game this year and said he plans to be in the stands at Harrison High School's on Saturday for the 1:30 p.m. kick-off.
The Garnets have won against the Huskies in the annual face-off for the past eight years, prompting Husky fans to don apparel that reads "The Streak Ends Here" and "Beat Rye."
Matt has been watching the team closely and said he feels confident about another victory."We're going to make this the ninth year in a row," he said.
