PURCHASE, N.Y. -- Volunteer firefighters were credited with saving the life of a cat on Wednesday in Purchase, a section of the town of Harrison.

The black and white cat's name is Milkshake and he apparently was stuck in a treetop in the Leek family's backyard since Monday.

A fire department dispatcher said Milkshake was retrieved safely shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Ray Zimlin, a volunteer firefighter climbed back down the ladder without loss of life, but loss of at least one tree limb.
