RYE, N.Y. – A jewelry salesman leaving Woodrow Jewelers at 21 Purchase St. was jumped from behind by two or three attackers and robbed Wednesday afternoon, Rye police said.

According to police, the salesman had just left the jewelry store about 1:30 p.m. and was placing two satchels containing jewelry valued at a reported $50,000 wholesale into his car when the robbers yelled, grabbed him, threw him to the ground and fled in a black sport utility vehicle west on Locust Avenue with the satchels.

No weapon was displayed during the attack, police said, and the victim did not appear to be injured.
