Scarsdale native Robert Durst, a former Lewisboro resident, was charged Monday by Los Angeles prosecutors in the 2000 killing of his friend Susan Berman. Durst, 71, is also facing weapons charges in Louisiana, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The Wall Street Journal article said Durst's personal issues should not have much affect on the family's real estate holdings, according to marketing consultants and real estate experts.
“While this is an awful situation, this has no implication on the Durst business and Durst operation,” Allen Adamson, chairman at Landor Associates, said in the Journal report. Landor Associates is a brand consulting and design firm that is a unit of advertising group WPP PLC. “They will have to remind people not once but many times as the story unfolds over the next weeks and months.”
The article noted that The Durst Organization weathered media coverage of a murder trial in which Durst was acquitted as well as a Hollywood film based on his story. The company also severed ties with Robert Durst more than two decades ago.
