Officials in Larchmont announced that demolition of 1912 Palmer Ave. will begin on Monday June 5, lasting several days as crews from Capital Wrecking complete their work following an October fire.

Capital Wrecking began restoring the brick paver section of the sidewalk on Friday, and they are scheduled to mobilize their equipment on Saturday. Demolition of 1912 Palmer Ave. will begin on Monday, with demolition performed from behind the building.

The demolition is expected to last between three and five days. The scaffolding will come down once the demolition is complete and the protective barricade is erected.

The building was damaged by an October fire that left several people displaced.

“For safety reasons, the sidewalk in front of 1912 Palmer will be closed all of next week,” village officials noted. “Access to the Citibank and the Corner Store will not be affected. Those persons wishing to walk from Wendt to Chatsworth will have to cross over Palmer twice. Please do not risk injury by walking in the roadway.”
