RYE, N.Y. – With nearly 70 percent of Rye without power, the city is urging residents to stay patient as Con Edison works to get the city back up and running.

Con Edison is performing site safety, including opening closed streets and addressing downed wires in Rye. Once the process is complete, Con Edison will focus on restoring power to schools first, then residences in Rye.

Currently the power company has a limited supply of dry ice, but plans to set up extended distribution soon. The city did not have an indication of when this distribution might take place.

The city department of public works will be out Wednesday picking up green waste only. Residents can put out branches from the storm at the curb to be picked up. Regular garbage pickup will resume Thursday on a regular schedule.
