The symposium runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will be held at the Michael T. Weber Auditorium. The event is free, but guests are asked to RSVP to 845-940-1911.
The symposium will have segments which include:
- Urinary Issues in Women, Dr. Sheldon L. Axelrod
- Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Dr. Laura M. Kaye
- Breast Health -- Diagnosis and Treatment of Benign and Malignant Disorders, Dr. Lyda E. Rojas Carroll
- Robot Surgery in Gynecology, Dr. Janusz E. Rudnicki
Dr. Axelrod, who coordinated the event and will speak on urinary issues in women, said women have some misconceptions about urinary incontinence, which he will discuss at the symposium.
“The most common misconception in this regard is that little can be done to improve the situation,’’ he said. “In fact there are many options that can greatly improve ones quality of life. Simple exercises and behavior modifications can result in significant improvement in the majority of individuals. There are also medications and procedures available for refractory cases.”
Dr. Axelrod said Putnam Hospital Center has hosted previous community education events, however, “This is the first time when this team of specialists has been brought together to address women’s concerns,’’ Axelrod said.
Putnam Hospital Center is located at 670 Stoneleigh Ave. in Carmel. Click here for the event website and more information. More information is also available via the attached PDF.
