RYE, N.Y. -- The Lustgarten Foundation's fourth annual Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk held in Rye Town Park on Sunday raised $256,664 for the cause.
More than 1,000 people participated in the 3-mile walk, which started at Rye Town Park. The walk and festivities were held in memory of Gigi Shanes-Hernandez of Rye, who died from pancreatic cancer in 2009. The event was organized by her husband, Steve, and daughter, Tara.
All of the money raised by the event will be donated to the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer research.
