RYE, N.Y. – Aspiring teen thespians will get the chance to learn tricks of the trade at the “Act Up! Drama Workshop” at the Rye Free Reading Room in August. The library is now taking registration.
On Thursday Aug. 23, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., teacher Laura Pellegrini will focus on collaborative acting and individual monologue work using action, objective and character goals. She will demonstrate how creating stakes can heighten the drama in a scene and a variety of multi-sensory techniques will be used to engage students.
Pellegrini graduated from Manhattanville College with a bachelor's degree in theater education. Her recent theater credits include "The Winter’s Tale," "Much Ado About Nothing" and "All Fall Down." As a teaching artist she has worked at New Rochelle High School, where she engaged freshmen talent in dynamic theater activities and workshops, and as a creative drama teacher at TVI, where she has worked with pre-k to high school hopefuls working toward a career in film and TV.
Space is limited for the workshop. Call 914-231-3172 to register. The Rye Free Reading Room is located at 1061 Boston Post Road in Rye.
