Millman, a Rye Fire Department volunteer, was a first responder to the WTC site. Millman accompanied former Gov. George E. Pataki to the WTC site in the first hours after the terrorists brought down the buildings on Sept. 11, 2001.
"The image is Gov. Pataki and his staff as they walked through the ash and darkness, south on Route 9. There should have been big buildings in the background, but they were gone in the terror attack," according to a press release. "The image appears in the 'timeline' at the museum, the last image of that terrible day."
Millman lectures on the WTC events and the aftermath using his own photographs. He has covered two wars, seven U.S. presidents, many terrorist attacks and countless stories of daily life. His work has appeared in Time, Newsweek, the New York Times, Los Angeles Times and most major American and European news publications.
