RYE, N.Y. The Rye Free Reading Room has a host of family events at the end of August, including two childrens movie screenings and the summer reading program grand finale ice cream party.
Participants in the Rye Free Reading Rooms Dream Big Read Summer Reading Program are invited to celebrate their achievements with a Grand Finale at the library at 6 p.m. Aug. 21. The evening will include a Name That Tune contest with Graham Clarke, the awarding of reading certificates and prizes and ice cream sundaes with lots of toppings. Registration is required.
The library will screen the family film Mirror Mirror rated-PG from 6-7:45 p.m. Aug. 28. Families with children ages 5 and up will see Snow White and seven rebellious dwarfs engage in an epic battle of good versus evil in a magical twist on the old story.
Kids ages 5 and up can watch the film The Secret World of Arrietty rated-G at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 31. In the movie, the members of the Clock family are 4-inch-tall people who live anonymously in another familys residence, borrowing simple items to make their home.
