After hearing that Oliver Tchakarov was diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma, the fastest growing human cancer, Silvya and Atanas Vantchev decided to help out.

Atanas Vantchev and Oliver's father, Svetlin, grew up together, as their children have done since Svetlin and Katerina Sovikova-Tchakarov moved to New Canaan in 2010. Oliver has two younger brothers, Simon and Thomas, and the trio spend time with Koko Vantchev, the Vantchev's son.

The goal is to raise $50,000 to help defray some of the medical costs, as doctors discovered cancer in Oliver's left lung and leg. It's expected that he'll have to live the rest of his life with one lung.

Instead of finishing out fifth grade in Joanna Dobransky's class at Saxe Middle School and playing tag football and learning karate, Oliver is now in the ICU of Yale New Haven’s Children Hospital.
