RYE, N.Y. -- Rye dentist Dr. Shannon Kelso and the Purchase Street Family Dental team are again hosting their annual Halloween Candy Buyback event on Monday, Nov. 2 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The buyback offers a creative way to recycle the excess Halloween candy that can lead to kids' cavities, and it's a solution families can take to the bank.
Purchase Street Family Dental are again partnering with the national Halloween Candy Buyback program, which lets trick-or-treaters trade in their excess candy for cash.
The collected candy will be sent to U.S. military personnel. The trick-or-treaters can bring their excess candy to the Purchase Street Family Dental office in Rye and receive $1 per pound in exchange for their loot. Each participating child will also receive a free toothbrush.
Purchase Street Family Dental will have also have supplies on hand for children to write a note to a service person, which will be sent along with the candy. Unopened candy will be collected at the dental office on Monday, Nov. 2, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Kelso, who previously served as a dentist for the U.S. Navy, is excited to provide a service to the Rye community as well as our troops. She said, “Halloween Candy Buyback is a great way to thank our troops for their service and sacrifice, while at the same time cutting down on the amount of candy kids eat at Halloween, which is hard on teeth.”
