Red Cross Announces Upcoming Blood Drive In Rye Brook

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – The American Red Cross will be having blood drives at the following locations to support cancer patients and others needing blood during Breast Cancer Awareness month:

Mount Vernon: Friday, Oct. 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Thornton High School, 121 South 6th Ave., Mount Vernon.

Rye Brook:  Friday, Oct.29 from 2-7 p.m. at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, 761 King St., Rye Brook.

White Plains: Friday, Oct. 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at White Plains Presbyterian Church, 39 North Broadway.

Breast cancer patients may need blood products during chemotherapy, mastectomy surgery or treatment of complications. Donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types O-negative, B-negative, A-negative and AB blood.

A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years or younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
