Port Chester-Rye Council Honors Community Leaders

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- The Port Chester/Rye Town Council of Community Services will hold its 39th annual Networking Lunch on Thursday from noon-2 p.m. at the Copacabana Steakhouse, 29 N. Main St., Port Chester.

The Council of Community Services holds its annual meeting to bring together its members as well as partners in the nonprofit, government and business communities. It has also become a tradition that on this day the council recognizes all of the new leaders in the community.

This year's Extra Mile Award goes to Jack and Jeanine Zaccara. Longtime Port Chester residents, the Zaccaras have dedicated their personal and professional time educating the children of the Port Chester school district. As educators, they have taught in the school district for a combined more than 60 years and are committed to promoting leadership and global awareness to students. The Zaccaras have conducted their work with passion to make Port Chester, especially its children, better, resilient and compassionate, the council said. 

Special Recognition Awards will go to the Revs. J. Bruce Baker, of All Souls Parish and Jim O'Hanlon of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Certificates of Appreciation will go to Angeles McBride, volunteer, St. Peter's Church; Aida Feliciano, Food 2 Grow On, Edison School; Remedios Gudino, Food 2 Grow On, Edison School; Paola Alcantar, Food 2 Grow On, Edison School; and Claudia Magallos, Food 2 Grow On, Edison School
