Port Chester Director Named County Library Trustee

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- The Westchester Library System has named Alex Payan, of Port Chester, to the organization’s board of trustees.

Payan serves as a district representative covering Port Chester, Rye Brook, Rye City and Rye Town.

Payan has more than 15 years of marketing research experience in the corporate world with an array of international companies, such as Kraft Foods Global (Shopper Insights). His background in the marketing field includes various methodologies in quantitative and qualitative market research studies, including branding, product testing, awareness and usage, strategic brand positioning and tracking.

He currently is the director of Port Chester Cares for Family Services of Westchester and serves as an adjunct English as a Second Language teacher at Manhattanville College’s English Language Institute program, where he teaches international marketing and advertising. 

He also is a consultant for the Town of Rye, where he is responsible for performing community research and outreach services, which includes the Town of Rye’s Youth Summer Internship Program.

In addition, Payan is involved in numerous civic organizations: Chair of the Village of Port Chester Board of Ethics; Advisory Member of the Port Chester Salvation Army; Board member of the Clay Art Center; Board member of Carver Center and member of the Port Chester/Rye Brook Rotary Club International, Kappa Delta Pi – International Honor Society in Education, Alpha Beta Gamma – International Honor Society in Business, among many others. He resides in Port Chester.

“Mr. Payan’s diverse knowledge and extensive community engagement will bring new insight to the Westchester Library System,” said Terry Kirchner, its executive director. “We are pleased to welcome him to the board and look forward to his active participation.”

The Westchester Library System Library System includes 38 member public libraries throughout the county and is one of the state's 23 public library systems.
