Letter: Rye Colony Resident Is Sick Of Power Outages

RYE, N.Y. – The Rye Daily Voice accepts signed, original letters to the editor. Letters may be emailed to rye@dailyvoice.com.

Letter to the Editor:

Is it possible for your Rye Daily Voice to investigate what has been witnessed as noninvolvement with Consolidated Edison and the continuous power outages in the Rye Colony and the Gables areas? I know there are still many Rye residents who are in the same situation, but please note to add us to this list. We are still without power, and when we called Con Edison a few days ago, they didn't send any crews to our area and asked for our information and left us feeling that the issue was not a priority.

To date, we are being told that they are working on the area but we probably won't get power restored until Nov. 9 at 11 p.m. This is so disgraceful, but this isn't our first power outage in which Con Edison appears to forget us. Is this really possible?

In closing, at Rye Colony there are many elders who appear to be less able to get some relief, and they have to remain in their apartments through these storms and outages, which increases their risk for many serious health issues.

Thank you for your consideration pertaining to this serious ongoing matter at the Rye Colony Apartments.

Respectfully, Rye Colony resident of more than 10 years
