Russ is the Disaster Health Services Volunteer Lead for the Greater New York Region of the American Red Cross. This essential position is critical in planning and responding to the needs of the community during an emergency, according to a release from the American Red Cross Greater New York.

Russ oversees a roster of volunteers and has been an avid Red Cross volunteer for nine years.

He is a senior at Muhlenberg College where he is studying public health. Russ is seeking employment in the disaster and emergency management field beginning in May 2017.

March is Red Cross Month. This official designation dates back to 1943 and was first introduced as a way to raise awareness of the work of the organization during World War II, according to the release.

Every March, since 1943, has been proclaimed Red Cross Month to help highlight the impact of American Red Cross services and the selfless volunteers who carry out its mission.
