Secon, who has held the position for 14 years, explained she was ready for a new challenge.

“I really loved my time at the Rye Youth Council, but with my youngest child’s graduation from high school, this is a natural time for me to pursue other projects.”

Secon was the first executive director hired by the Rye Youth Council.

Former board President Lauren Miscimarra praised her leadership, vision and dedication.

“Judy helped the organization develop a wide variety of social-emotional programs and services that were responsive to the changing issues facing the students and families in Rye.”

Secon said, “It was a privilege to serve the children and families of our community, and I will miss working with our extraordinary Youth Advocates and our dedicated volunteers. It is so important for organizations such as the Rye Youth Council to focus on our kids’ emotional health, and I am proud to have been associated with the RYC for so many years.”

Current board President Lisa Faries thanked Secon for her many years of service to the organization.

“We are very grateful to Judy for her leadership and commitment to the Rye Youth Council," Faries said. "During her tenure, our programs and services have bolstered the social and emotional well-being of thousands of children and teens in our community. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

Lisa Sandler, former Rye Nature Center board president and current RNC board member, will step in as interim director beginning. The board will soon begin the process of seeking a new director.

The Rye Youth Council is a local, independent nonprofit organization, built on the belief that children’s social and emotional well-being is essential to their academic and lifelong success.
