Josephine Riebling, 89, Former Rye Accountant

RYE, N.Y. – Josephine M. Dorney Riebling, formerly of Rye and Bronx, N.Y., died May 14. She was 89.

Riebling graduated from Hunter College High School. She married Erich Riebling in 1943. They worked together in the family business, where she was the accountant for several decades.

A parishioner of Church of the Resurrection in Rye for 35 years, Riebling was also active in the Twigs, and helped raise funds for the local hospital. Riebling enjoyed boating, sewing, needlework, embroidery, reading, bowling and tennis.

She was predeceased by her husband, Erich Riebling. She is survived by two sons, Bill (Lucy) Riebling and Steve (Donna) Riebling; two daughters, Marie (Tim) and Elaine (Bill); five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. 

The wake will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Graham Funeral Home in Rye. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Church of the Resurrection. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
