The nationwide competition is designed to recognize projects and companies that are improving the lives of seniors through innovative design, and an award will be presented at an event in Dallas, Texas in March.
The H.O.P.E. Center is designed for individuals with Alzheimer’s and other similar neurological disorders that compromise cognitive ability. These residents can still perform some daily activities, but also need professional care and support in a social setting.
The five-person panel of leading architects and designers praised the 'right size' of the Center, limited to 13 residents, and the home-like interior design with adaptations for the memory impaired.
The H.O.P.E. (Home Environment, Optimism, Passion and Empathy) program features professionals specially trained in Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
“The Osborn’s H.O.P.E. Center is the result of an extraordinary team of individuals and experts who first dreamed the concept, then took it from idea to reality,” said Mark R. Zwerger, president and chief executive officer of The Osborn, in a statement.
“This honor reinforces The Osborn’s 106-year-old legacy of providing superior care to exceed the needs and expectations of older adults.”
