RYE, N.Y. – Hildegard "Hilda" Chapderlane of Rye died Sunday, April 29. She was 88.
Chapderlane was the co-owner of Baskin-Robbins in Rye for more than 20 years.
She was born July 18, 1923, in Munich, Germany, to Theodore and Katrina Sitzman. Married to Robert L. Chapderlane, she also co-owned Poppy's Café in Rye with her husband and daughter, Gerri. Hilda Chapderlane was an avid bowler and won many awards over 56 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Gerri Piovesan; a son, Robert Chapderlane of Rye; a sister, Irma Buxeder; six grandchildren; and a nephew.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at Graham Funeral Home in Rye. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye.
