RYE BROOK, N.Y. Giuseppe Lofaro of Rye Brook died May 7. He was 86.
Born March 22, 1926 in Scillia, Reggio Calabria, Italy, he was a son of Rocco and Domenica Lofaro. A retired groundskeeper, Lofaro worked at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.
He is survived by his wife, Giovanna Lagana Lofaro; a daughter, Domenica Lofaro, of Rye Brook; a son, Rocco (Francesca) Lofaro of Mount Kisco; two sisters, Francesca Oliveri and Giuseppa Pierotta, both of Italy; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Lofaro was predeceased by three brothers, Peter, Antonio and Rocco; and two sisters, Santa Lofaro and Marianna Buiti.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Craft Memorial Home in Port Chester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Rye Brook.
