Gianguzzi, Owner of Rye's Gann Realty, Dies at 79

RYE, N.Y. - Lawrence "Larry" Charles Gianguzzi, of Rye, died Feb. 19. He was 79. 

Gianguzzi was an owner of Gann Realty, serving Rye and Port Chester for nearly 40 years.  

He was born in Bronx, N.Y. on April 27, 1932 to Lorenzo Carlo Gianguzzi and Vincenza Piccano Gianguzzi. He served in the Army as a communications officer in the Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH). As a young man, Gianguzzi played trombone in several successful acts, including the Tony Bennett Band. 

Gianguzzi then went on to work as an engineer with Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports Magazine. Almost 40 years ago, he and his wife started Gann Realty on Wainwright Street in Rye. 

Surviving are his wife, the former Marie Carmela Mangini, his daughters Kathleen Marie Gerety and Laurie Ann Gianguzzi, his sisters Frances Russo of Harrison, Antoinette Farrella of Rye Brook and Gloria Olivieri of Hartford, Conn., his brother Joseph Custode Gianguzzi of Miami, Fla. and a granddaughter. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Vincent and John Gianguzzi.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home in Rye on Wednesday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
