Former Broadcast Journalist, Web Expert Continues To Track Rye Town News

RYE, N.Y. -- Dick Hubert of Rye Brook is a lifelong newshound having worked as an investigative journalist in television news and more recently by chronicling local decisions at public meetings in the Town of Rye.

Hubert regularly offers detailed reports about those meetings to local media outlets.

He recently agreed to serve as a volunteer community advisor with the Daily Voice to help keep readers informed about local news and events.

Hubert is chairman and executive producer of Videoware Corp. He previously worked as a producer/reporter for ABC television news. He founded and was executive producer of the Urban America Unit of Westinghouse Broadcasting Co. Hubert also founded Gateway Productions Inc., which was sold to Gannett Co. Inc.

The graduate of Amherst College is a trustee emeritus at his alma mater.

He served in the U.S. Army in Europe.

Hubert’s professional honors include the George Foster Peabody Award, the DuPont-Columbia Award -- a two time winner, the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Journalism Award, the Amos Tuck Award for Economic Understanding from the Dartmouth Graduate School of Business, and the Chicago, San Francisco and New York Film Festival Awards.

Among other professional activities, Hubert is a member of the Writers Guild of America, East and of the American Federation of Television/Radio Artists.

He also was a Swedish Government Fellow at the University of Stockholm.
